KUALA LUMPUR: Tickets for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad's (KTMB) newly launched electric train service (ETS) to JB Sentral are selling fast, just days ahead of its official launch on 12 December.
The 30 per cent launch discount, available for the first 5,000 passengers using the promo code "JBBEST" for travel between Dec 12 and Jan 11, 2026, was fully redeemed on the first day.
"Thank you for the extraordinary response from our customers. The promo codes provided for 5,000 passengers have been fully redeemed today. This proves the interest and trust of the public in our new service," said KTMB's Acting group chief executive officer and Chief Technical Officer Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin.
"KTMB is committed to continue offering the best value, a more comfortable travel experience, and exploring other promotions in the future," he added.
Yesterday, Ahmad had said the new train service is timely as it comes ahead of the school holiday season and year-end festive period, when many Malaysians travel to Johor.
"This service will enhance domestic mobility and stimulate tourism and business activities in both directions," he said.
The launch of the ETS service also marks the completion of the Gemas–Johor Bahru electric double-tracking project, spanning 192km and 11 stations. - NST
