Mat Salleh shamed for begging Malaysians to fund his travel trips

THE SOCIAL media is no short on stories about people travelling to exotic places and enjoying all that delicious delicacies.

But we all know that travelling isn’t cheap. Or in other words, no money, no honey.

However, it appears a very innovative white man has come up with a solution to fund his travels, and the technique is no other than begging.

It appears that self minus self respect equals big money too as can be seen in the photos where money could be seen piling up inside his begging cup.

According to netizen @TravelJimat, the man could be found begging at Ayer Keroh, with a cardboard by his side stating that he needed funds to travel the world.

Looking at the man, healthy and able bodied, we are surprised he could stoop so low as to beg for money when even a handicapped person or person with disability is employed.

Our fellow netizens are not impressed too. “Who is so foolish to give money to such a person,” said @LIL_gvup, adding that kind hearted people should just donate money to their own relatives.

Another netizen pointed out that people can make donations to the school children or even those who are studying in the university.

“Instead of donating to a trash like this, can’t you Malaysians help the animals/strays in Malaysia..do you know how many kind hearted ppl are trying to save animals every single day…help them!!” said @Ranjeeta_Kaur.

But it appears the beggar is enjoying the hospitality of our fellow Malaysians as seen in a snapshot from a post.

An uncle by the Instagram handle of uncle_hashim said he treated the man to breakfast before sending him to the Gombak toll.

“I am always your uncle, your father. You can come anytime. Hope to see again one day,” said uncle_hashim in his post.

Netizen @DizzyR69 lamented that the man is able to get away with such a behaviour due to his white privileges. According to him, if the beggar had been a Rohingya migrant, they wouldn’t have treated him so well.

It seems that white privilege is a very tangible thing here in Malaysia although we Malaysian can be quite vocal in criticising Europeans where many of their foreign policies are concerned. —  Focus Malaysia
