Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari says it will also cover the development of public infrastructure.

Amirudin said the master plan will also cover the development of public infrastructure such as utilities, renewable energy, public transport, digital connectivity, industrial areas and housing.
“The Selangor government welcomes the Cabinet’s decision to approve the development of a third port on Pulau Carey. The state government has been working on this plan since 2023.
“I am certain this historic approval will further propel Port Klang, which has become one of the world’s 10 main ports, handling 14.64 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2024,” he said in a statement today.
He said the master plan would also evaluate the feasibility of setting up a special local authority to manage all of Pulau Carey’s development.
In September, Amirudin said the Selangor government had identified 1,699.67ha on Pulau Carey, located south of Port Klang, to be developed as the state’s third port.
He said this comprised 1,011.71ha of seabed land managed by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and 687.96ha of coastal land owned by Yayasan Selangor.
Yesterday, transport minister Loke Siew Fook said the state government would take the lead on the project, and that his ministry would oversee it.
He said the state government would form a special purpose vehicle to attract private investors to build and operate the port.
Amirudin said the Selangor economic planning unit will spearhead the development together with PKNS. - FMT
