KUALA LUMPUR: The Singapore High Commission here has denied an article published in an online portal claiming that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had become a target in 1MDB investigations after signing “several unfair agreements” with Najib Razak in exchange for assistance in money laundering.
In a brief statement, it said the article in question was “fake news” and “clearly libellous”.
The article, which was published yesterday, claimed Lee had signed the agreements with the former prime minister over the Singapore-Malaysia High-Speed Rail (HSR) project and the water sale agreement between the two countries.
This was allegedly done in exchange for the assistance of Singapore banks in laundering 1MDB funds.
