JERTIH: The body of a Thai man was found hanging from the roof of a storage area at the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) Complex in Kuala Besut, today.
The man, in his 30s, was discovered dangling by his neck from a nylon rope tied to a central beam of the complex’s fishing net storage facility at about 7.30am
He is believed to have committed suicide.
The gruesome discovery was made by a 51-year-old local man who was visiting the complex at the time. He immediately contacted the authorities.
“The (victim) was found fully-clothed, wearing a long-sleeved, blue Barisan Nasional shirt and knee-length blue jeans.
“A police search found no personal documents on the victim, but he is believed to be from Thailand,” district police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi told NSTP when contacted.
He said that the body was later conveyed to the Besut Hospital for a post-mortem, adding that the case has been classified as “sudden death” and an investigation is ongoing.
