PKR POLLS | Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos could lead the country in the future if the Pakatan Harapan government regresses and fails to push for changes in all aspects evenly.
This was the warning issued by the outgoing PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad at the wing's congress in Shah Alam today.
"If we are too careful or shy, then the renewal - be it economic, administrative, political or social - will not happen. Malaysia will be dead and not go anywhere," he said.
"A good government needs to make an effort to push for changes evenly," he said in his policy speech.
"Sociopolitical progress must be strengthened by a fair and continuous economy," he added.
He then warned of how Donald Trump had succeeded Barack Obama as US president, while the UK had voted to withdraw from the European Union (EU).
"We don't want 'Jamal Jamban' to become the (country's) leader, but nothing is impossible," he said.
He also likened the PKR election to the 2016 US presidential election, which pitted Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton against Republican candidate and eventual winner Donald Trump.
"Our election is colourful, but this is normal in any democratic political party. What is important is that when this is over, we should close ranks.
"Malaysians and the world are not interested in what happened in our mosquito net (kelambu), they want us to show a high level of performance," he said.
