Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin has urged Umno leaders to go down to their respective constituencies to talk to groups of people who did not get benefits from Pakatan Harapan's Budget 2019.
These could include university students regarding the Higher National Education Fund (PTPTN), as well as fishermen and farmers for lack of aid during the monsoon season, he said.
"Maybe Shamsul (Anuar Nasarah, who is former PTPTN chairperson) can go and meet university students and discuss the current situation.
"Other Umno leaders can meet fishermen and farmers and instigate them to hold pickets, against not being given assistance during the monsoon season in the Harapan budget," Khairy told a dialogue session at Putra World Trade Centre tonight.
According to Khairy, Umno leaders are doing well as the opposition in Dewan Rakyat and said this should also be reflected outside the House, in fighting for the people's rights.
"(We should) send our MPs, leaders to the groups affected and we instigate them towards betterment because we want to help them, that's the way.
"The strategy of war in politics has also been practised outside the Parliament, I hope Umno will see to this," he said.
In its budget, Harapan did not announce any special incentives for farmers, fishermen, livestock rearers and rubber tappers. - Mkini
