Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak is simply trying to divert attention away from the 1MDB scandal, claimed DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
"I can now understand why Najib is making numerous Facebook postings every day, which is clearly an attempt to distract and divert attention from the 1MDB scandal.
"In particular (Najib is trying to distract from) the US Department of Justice (DOJ) 1MDB filings unsealed in a court in New York last Thursday," Lim said in a statement today.
Lim was referring to the charge sheets filed by the DOJ against former Goldman Sachs bankers Tim Leissner, Roger Ng, and fugitive businessperson Jho Low.
The charge sheets featured Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor prominently under their codenames "Malaysia Official 1" (MO1) and "wife of MO1".
Since losing power, Najib has become an active social media user, posting comments on current developments several times a day.
He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing over the 1MDB scandal.
However, he has been slapped with 25 charges for alleged money laundering and abuse of power, all involving 1MDB funds.
"What has Najib got to say for bringing the worst infamy and greatest shame to Malaysia not only among the prime ministers but among Malaysians for the last six decades?
"Furthermore, how can the ministers and MPs in Najib’s governments from 2009 to 2018 redeem themselves for the unforgivable sins and crimes they have committed against Malaysia by aiding and abetting Najib’s kleptocracy?" Lim said. - Mkini
