NOORYANA Najwa Najib, better known as Yana Najib, thinks the authorities have a grand design to embarrass her parents.
The daughter of former prime minister Najib Razak and Rosmah Mansor said she was praying for the couple as her mother is expected to face corruption charges relating to a RM1.25 billion Sarawak solar energy project for rural schools.
“It’s approaching 12pm in KL. Daddy is due to speak at Parliament on Budget 2019 and Mummy was called to report to MACC (Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission). Both at 12pm sharp.”
“Nothing is coincidence – all part of a grand design for an embarrassment and media frenzy. Daddy & Mummy, Adam and I are praying for you…” Nooryana said in an Instagram post today.
Najib criticised Budget 2019 in Dewan Rakyat today, saying it should have increased aid to the people as the country faces tough times ahead.
He was heckled repeatedly by Pakatan Harapan lawmakers over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.
Rosmah is expected to be charged tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court for abuse of public funds relating to the solar project.
Rosmah’s former aide, Rizal Mansor, is also expected to be charged. The duo are likely to face six charges related to the RM1.25 billion solar-hybrid project involving RM6.5 million.
Najib was also recently called to the MACC in Putrajaya and questioned in relation to the Sarawak solar energy project, but the former prime minister denied this.
The solar-power project was awarded to Bintulu-based transport firm Jepak Holdings on Najib’s orders, whistle-blower site Sarawak Report alleged in a June report.
The firm was appointed in 2016 to supply diesel, maintain generators and provide solar power to 369 schools.
Since June, MACC has arrested two executives from the firm and a lawyer. Rizal was arrested later on allegations he solicited money from the firm.
Rosmah is facing 17 counts of money-laundering in a separate case involving RM7 million. She was arrested early last month after providing a statement to the MACC in Putrajaya.
