Sabah Umno to soldier on despite court ruling against Musa

Sabah Umno Youth chief Abdul Aziz Julkarnain says the party will work to regain the people’s faith.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno Youth has vowed to soldier on despite Musa Aman not being restored as the rightful chief minister.
Its chief Abdul Aziz Julkarnain said the wing was disappointed with the High Court’s decision yesterday but accepted it.
“It absolutely does not mean our fight has ended. We will continue to defend this sovereign state from any kind of pillaging and betrayal of our people,” he said here today.
Aziz said Sabah Umno would continue to serve the people and it would not surrender its struggles and would remember those who had supported and remained faithful to the party.
“We will also strive to restore the people’s faith in us, especially the younger generation.
“We will rise again and the people will be the ones judging come the 15th general election,” he said.
The High Court yesterday dismissed an application by Musa to restore him as the chief minister (CM) and, as a result, allowed Warisan president Shafie Apdal to remain in the post, six months after both were sworn in as the CM following the May 9 election.
Judge Yew Jen Kie threw out the originating summons by Musa who had sought to declare that Shafie’s swearing-in on May 12 was unconstitutional.
Musa was initially sworn in as chief minister in a delayed ceremony a day after the May 9 polls.
But defections by Barisan Nasional assemblymen tipped the 60-seat state assembly majority in favour of the Warisan-Pakatan Harapan coalition.

Sabah governer Juhar Mahiruddin later swore Shafie in as chief minister but Musa refused to resign, saying Shafie’s appointment was unconstitutional. - FMT
