Former Election Commission chairperson Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman's recent remarks regarding the use of government resources to retain power will be discussed by the cabinet.
Two ministers who are also members of the Pakatan Harapan presidential council confirmed this to Malaysiakini.
Abdul Rashid, who is also currently a Bersatu vice-president, had said that pushbacks against demands by party delegates to use government resources to help the party retain power were "stupid".
He said this during the rounding-up speech on Sunday at Bersatu's AGM, which was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
"He (Rashid) is terrible!" one of the ministers said to Malaysiakini in a message.
"I have had at least two discussions with him on electoral delimitation exercise and reforms. These were before the 14th general election.
"He knows very little. I was not impressed at all," said the minister, who wished to remain anonymous.
The minister also said that Rashid's position as the current chair of the government's electoral reform committee will also be discussed by the cabinet and at a Harapan presidential council meeting.
Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman also said yesterday that he was against such remarks and that Malaysian citizens were not stupid.
Rashid's remarks drew ire from top leaders of the Harapan coalition including DAP Youth chief Howard Lee, who strongly denounced Abdul Rashid's comments. - Mkini
