Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has not received any official correspondence that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V would abdicate.
Quizzed on whether the ruler has resumed his duties, Mahathir replied: “As far as I know.”
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur today, the premier, however, declined to comment further on the claims regarding the abdication.
“Like you, I have heard rumours. I didn't receive letters or official indication about anything, so I am not going to talk about (it),” he said.
Yesterday, Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the state government has no knowledge of the abdication claim but advised the people not to believe rumours.
