Aircraft landing at Seletar cannot use M'sian airspace, reiterates Putrajaya

Putrajaya will maintain its stand that aircraft landing at the Seletar Airport in Singapore should not do so from Malaysian airspace over Pasir Gudang.
According to Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, the point will be reiterated during a meeting with Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan on Tuesday.
“We are consistent in our stand, and we will repeat our suggestion that aircraft landing in Seletar cannot use Malaysian airspace.
“Hopefully, our meeting on Jan 8 will arrive at an agreement over this issue which needs to be resolved,” he was quoted as saying today by Berita Harian.
It was reported last Friday that several aircraft were seen in Malaysian airspace before landing at the Seletar Airport after the implementation of the Instrument Landing System (ILS).
The Seletar Airport, which is mainly used for cargo and private aircraft, is located right by the Straits of Johor.
Last month, Malaysia had wanted Singapore to retract its plan to implement the ILS, or to change the flight route to Seletar Airport.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke had said the flight route would greatly affect development in Pasir Gudang as it would limit the height of infrastructure in the area. - Mkini
