BUT WHY CAN’T AGONG ISSUE STATEMENT HIMSELF: CONFUSED OR LACKING LOGIC, PAS DRAGS TOMMY THOMAS INTO KING’S ABDICATION SCANDAL – WANTS AG TO ‘STOP INCORRECT INFORMATION FROM CIRCULATING’

THE Kelantan government has asked the Attorney-General’s Chambers to take measures to stop the circulation of fake news on the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Bernama reports.
The comments come as rumours circulating on online that Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan is being forced to abidicate.
Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said today the attorney-general should be concerned about the fake news circulating as it was not only immoral but involved the Kelantan sultan in his personal capacity and royal institution.
“It is the duty of the attorney-general to ensure that incorrect information does not circulate among the people,” he said, adding that nothing had been done to stop the circulation of such news.

Amar was commenting on rumours circulating on social media about the Sultan Muhammad V being forced to abdicate in recent days.
The PAS state government also slammed parties “namely the Attorney-General for allowing rumours and insults on the King to spread”, taking not action to prevent it.
Amar said it was the A-G’s duty to investigate and act, as the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong was an institution that must be protected.
“This has been happening. There was one rumour, then two…but no action was ever taken. So people became bolder,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Online.
“The attorney-general should be concerned about this matter and act where it can act, and investigate what should be investigated,” Amar said.
He added that he did not discount the possibility that the circulation of the fake news was designed to tarnish the image of the Kelantan government.
“Everyone knows that the state government enjoys a close relationship with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. As such, anything against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong can also be against the state government,” he said.
