The Cameron Highlands parliamentary by-elections is schedule to be held on 26 January with Nomination Day fixed on 12 January.
The Cameron Highlands seat was predominately held by MIC for years and even during the May 9 13th General Elections, MIC retained the seat but had been disqualified due to complaints of "bribery", an elections offence.
Even during the 13th General Elections, Kayveas had threatened the BN, but the then BN Secretary-General Tengku Adnan got Kayveas to be "sacked" from MyPPP, for indiscipline". Kayveas had claimed he had "resigned" from the MyPPP before the MyPPP Supreme Council could expel him. What is his status now is in great doubt.
Suddenly now, Kayveas, wants to offer himself as a BN candidate on the notion that he is a "popular" candidate in Cameron Highlands since he has worked there for the past 4 years.
Surely, MIC will nominate its own party candidate, since a few names have already been shortlisted.
But who is going to WIN this time is going to be a great challenge.
MIC/BN no longer control the federal government and lack funds to campaign there.
Looking at the odds, the PH candidate will most likely be victorious. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
