PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed claims by his deputy Mohamed Azmin Ali about hidden hands allegedly trying to silence the latter.
This was after Azmin was uninvited from officiating the PKR Youth Wing congress as per tradition.
"Perhaps he is looking from the sky or moon. The political bureau meeting is held weekly or bi-weekly and the central leadership council meets every month.
"All can raise their views or objections then. All decision is made by the central leadership council.
"Any changes can be made at the council's meeting, and not by threats from any leaders. I follow the decision of the meeting," he told journalists at an event in Kuala Terengganu today.
Azmin and his allies have been absent from party meetings amid a feud with Anwar's faction.
His absenteeism has been used as a reason to uninvite him to the PKR Youth Congress.
Anwar likened Azmin's absence to journalists snubbing editorial meetings.
"You are the media, if you don't attend meetings, won't your editor call you up?" he said.
Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian has also threatened to cancel its state convention if the issue of Azmin's invitation to the PKR Youth Congress is not resolved.
However, Anwar said that only a few Sarawak leaders have taken such a position.
He added that most of the division leaders in Sarawak want the convention to proceed.
"Nobody can give an ultimatum. Nobody should be arrogant enough to dictate this decision made by the political bureau and central leadership council, which was done transparently.
"It is not the decision of the secretary-general alone, it is the decision of the party leadership in the monthly meetings," he said. - Mkini
