KUALA LUMPUR: Mohamed Azmin Ali , deputy president of PKR, has put the party’s secretary-general, Saifuddin Nasution, on the spot when asked whether he, as deputy president was being invited to open the youth wing’s national convention this year.
“Ask the PKR secretary-general. Why not ask PKR secretary-general,” Azmin said, referring to Saifuddin Nasution.
Azmin had been asked to comment on speculation that the youth wing, Angkatan Muda Keadilan, did not want Azmin opening their national congress because they felt Azmin often made statements that contradict the party’s stand.
Going by tradition, the party’s deputy president is invited to open the national conventions of the party’s youth and women’s wings.
In the wake of the youth wing’s stand, there is speculation that former PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail may be invited instead to inaugurate the congress.
However, the women’s wing of the party is believed to prefer Azmin, giving rise to speculation that the youth and women’s conventions may not be opened simultaneously.
FMT is seeking a response from Saifuddin. - FMT
