PKR lawmaker P Prabakaran has lodged a police report after his Toyota Vellfire was splattered with eggs in Kuala Lumpur last night.
According to the report, the Batu MP's driver had parked the vehicle behind the PapaRich restaurant in Jalan Ipoh at about 11pm.
“I was attending a meeting at the restaurant and told my driver to go home. After the meeting ended at about 12.30pm, I headed towards the car and noticed there were eggshells near the driver's side.
“I found that the entire back portion was splattered with eggs, and there were shells on the roof and front windscreen.
“I am making this report because I am concerned about my safety, especially with the ongoing issues,” read the report lodged with the Sentul police station.
The attack comes in the wake of news that a coalition of NGOs demanded Prabakaran to step down in order for PKR vice-president Tian Chua to contest the Batu seat. Tian Chua has denied any involvement.
In the last general election, Prabakaran, 23, contested the Batu seat as an independent candidate and was supported by PKR.
This was after the Election Commission disqualified Tian Chua, who served as Batu MP for a decade, from contesting.
However, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled that the EC had erred and Tian Chua was qualified to contest in the last election and could contest future polls.
Tian Chua explained that his legal challenge was to put on record that the EC was wrong and not to trigger a by-election.
On Thursday, Prabakaran said he would serve as the MP till the end of his term.
"As a PKR MP, I would like to contribute my energy and effort for the good of the party in realising the reformasi agenda.
"I will serve the people in a transparent and fair manner and won't drop them halfway through," he said.
Prabakaran also denied Tian Chua had pressured him to step down.
"He had never pressed me on any issue nor has he directly negotiated with me about my duties or to resign as an MP..." he said. - Mkini
