PONTIAN: Gerakan’s Tanjung Piai by-election candidate Wendy Subramaniam wants to confront those apparently unhappy with her decision to throw her hat into the ring.
She said she was disappointed with those who allegedly vandalised her election poster but vowed to fight on.
“It would be best if they meet me face to face and talk about the problems they are not happy with,” she said on her Facebook page today, attaching a picture of her large poster that had fallen on the roadside.
It is understood the poster had been erected opposite a fast food restaurant’s drive-through counter here.
Meanwhile, Wendy’s election team member and the party’s deputy treasurer, Albert Teo, said they will be lodging a police report at the Pontian district station later.
He added the team found a wallet next to the fallen poster but it only contained some cash and no identification documents.
“We just want a clean and fair election. We hope this is not an act of sabotage,” he told reporters today.
Teo said that he will also surrender the wallet to the authorities for investigations.
“This is the first time in two days that such a thing has happened,” he said.
Wendy, who is a lawyer, is one of the six candidates vying for the Tanjung Piai parliamentary seat.
The other candidates are Pakatan Harapan’s Karmaine Sardini, Barisan Nasional’s Wee Jeck Seng, Berjasa’s Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz, as well as two independent candidates, Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar and Ang Chuan Lock. - FMT
