I don't know details of Azmin and BN MPs meeting, says Dr M

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad claims he only heard about yesterday's meeting between BN MPs and Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali but did not know more details.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Mahathir said he had only heard that the meeting was held at the PKR deputy president's official residence in Putrajaya.

"I heard about it. (But) I don't know what they talked about," the Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan chairperson said at a press conference after launching the Malaysian Palm Oil Board International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur today.

Met by reporters in parliament, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also said he was unaware of the meeting beyond what had been reported by the media.

"I don't know. I only read news that you all reported. So I don't know the real story," said the Bersatu president.

Yesterday night, more than 20 BN MPs and five from PKR were believed to be at Azmin's official residence at Presint 10, Putrajaya, for about two hours.

Not long after the MPs were seen leaving Azmin's house, Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam accused his party's Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein of being the mastermind behind the gathering, which was held two days after BN's victory in the Tanjung Piai by-election.

Hishammuddin, however, has denied Lokman's allegations and declared readiness to be probed by Umno's disciplinary committee. - Mkini
