A man was sighted running around naked in front of the Daya Bumi building near Pasar Seni in Kuala Lumpur, prompting police to deploy a patrol car and motorcycle to the scene.
While the man, in his 30s, could have faced a public indecency charge, police instead chose to help him out by clothing him and giving him some money to return home.
The incident happened at 3.27pm today.
Dang Wangi district police chief Mohd Fahmi Visunathan Abdullah confirmed the incident and stated that his personnel responded to a call from a traffic police officer who spotted the man.
"The patrol personnel managed to convince the man to enter the patrol car without any aggression on his part.
"The man did not have mental problems but said he was facing depression and could not control his emotions due to personal problems, and therefore had drunk excessive alcohol to an extent that he was unaware he was naked in public.
"As the man was without clothes, police bought him clothes from a bundle shop and gave him some pocket money as fare to return to his home in the Brickfields area," he said in a statement. - Mkini
