MCA: Why does DAP need a Chinese rep to help Karmaine?

TG PIAI POLLS | MCA president Wee Ka Siong (above, left) has questioned the need for Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to name Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong as the "Chinese representative" to Bersatu's Karmaine Sardini.
Wee said this goes against DAP and Pakatan Harapan's messaging that it was colour-blind.
"DAP says it doesn't see from a racial perspective, so what has happened to DAP?
"Why do they need a Chinese representative? Is the Bersatu candidate unable to represent the Chinese?" he asked in a press conference in Tanjung Piai today.

At a ceramah in Pekan Nanas last night, Lim said that if Karmaine won the Tanjung Piai by-election, he would appoint Liew (below) to aid the Bersatu man as some Chinese voters have express concerns about not being able to communicate with him effectively.
"(So) if there are any issues, Liew has a direct line to me, the finance minister," he said.
Wee, who defeated Liew in the contest for the Air Hitam parliament seat last year, said this is an attempt by the DAP leader to join parliament through the "side door".
This is a jab aimed at Liew for becoming deputy defence minister through a senatorship. In the past Liew had condemned MCA for doing the same, saying they had entered the government through the back door.
He said that if voters pick BN's candidate Wee Jeck Seng to represent them instead, they will get an MP who represents all races.
Campaigning for the Tanjung Piai by-election has entered its last leg with polling to be held next Saturday.
Jeck Seng and Karmaine are going up against Gerakan, Berjasa, and two independents for the seat. -Mkini
