PAS supports Cabinet reshuffle, says Guan Eng should be first to go

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man voiced support today for the Cabinet reshuffle mentioned by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, saying Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng should be the first to go.
“We welcome a Cabinet reshuffle, the sooner the better,” he told reporters in Parliament.
When asked which minister, in his view, should be sacked, he said the finance minister was a popular opinion.
“I think these days, if people do an online poll, within an hour a few thousand people would already be voting for a change in finance minister,” he said.“I think his budget failed, that is why all the ministries are disappointed with the budget they received.”
He gave the example of Penang, which he said was allocated RM10 billion for development in contrast to the halal industry which was given RM10 million.
“The halal hub should actually be given a much higher allocation,” he said, adding that east coast states such as Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu were also developmentally imbalanced.
“Sabah and Sarawak got a lot of money to build schools and roads. That is okay, but what are the major programmes to catalyse the (local) economy?” he asked.
Tuan Ibrahim also criticised Lim for blaming the previous government for Malaysia’s financial debts.
“It’s been almost two years but he is still blaming the old government.“Whichever government, when there is a takeover, we are forced to shoulder the debt and focus on the future, not keep looking at what happened in the past.
“We acknowledge the weaknesses (of the previous government) but we need to keep building.” - FMT
