PUTRAJAYA: A 37-week-pregnant woman, stabbed by her husband at their Presint 9 home here yesterday, drove herself to hospital where she later gave birth to a boy, police said.
Putrajaya district police chief Rosly Hassan said the victim, a 35-year-old teacher, suffered bleeding in her left fingers, right arm, two stab wounds on her stomach and injuries in her right back.
After the attack, she drove herself to hospital, where she also complained of abdominal pain and expressed worry about her pregnancy. She was referred to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department as well as Orthopaedics Department for further treatment.
“The victim then gave birth to a baby boy through surgery. She is still being treated at the hospital and the condition of both mother and son is stable,” Rosly said when contacted here today.
He said the victim’s 39-year-old husband had been arrested and remanded until Friday for further investigation. Police also seized a knife which was believed to have been used to stab the victim. - FMT
