KOTA KINABALU: A video of a huge crocodile swimming in a monsoon drain, supposedly near the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here, is making its rounds in social media.
It is unsure when or where the video was taken, but wildlife rangers are on the ground trying to locate the reptile.
Sabah Wildlife Department assistant director Dr Sen Nathan said judging from the video, the crocodile could be about 3m to 3.5m in length.
“It’s huge, our men are already on the ground, ” he said.
He said the crocodile will be taken to the wildlife department or Lok Kawi wildlife park if caught.
“However, let’s wait for us to catch it first, ” Dr Sen said.
It is a common sight to see crocodiles in monsoon or smaller drains around Kota Kinabalu.
However, there has yet to be reports of these reptiles attacking humans within the state capital. - Star
