Sacking, not attending meetings are different issues, Zuraida tells PKR man

PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin says Fahmi Fadzil’s response to her criticism is ‘funny’.
PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin has slammed the response by party communications director Fahmi Fadzil over the sacking of two party members, saying their dismissal and her failure to attend meetings are different issues.
She said she found Fahmi’s response to her criticism of the way in which Zakaria Abdul Hamid and Ismail Dulhadi were sacked “funny”.
“What I wanted to say was very clear. Their sacking was not done accordingly.
“The question on whether I attend party meetings or not is not relevant on this issue,” she said.
Zuraida said Fahmi was an “appointed officer” of PKR and should be mature enough to understand what she was trying to say.
She also claimed PKR was being “selective” in taking disciplinary action against some of its leaders.
PKR had earlier said the decision to sack Zakaria and Ismail was made in the wake of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s investigation on them for alleged corruption during the party’s election last year.
Zakaria, who was the PKR Bera division chief, said he was not given a chance to defend himself and was not informed officially that he had been sacked.
He said he was surprised to find out about the sacking from media reports.
Following Zuraida’s comments, Fahmi responded by saying she would have understood PKR’s decision to sack the two men if she had attended their political bureau meeting and central committee meeting on Sunday.
He said the action of issuing press statements would only complicate matters instead of solving them.

“The best platform would be for her to attend meetings,” Fahmi said. - FMT
