Scanda Sky's inaugural Ipoh-Guangzhou direct flight to take off on Wednesday (Nov 27)

IPOH: The inaugural Scanda Sky flight from Ipoh to Guangzhou takes off on Wednesday night (Nov 27).
The flight will depart from the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport here at 10.10pm and arrive at Baiyun International Airport around 2.10am on Thursday (Nov 28).
A launching ceremony is expected to be held in Guangzhou on Thursday.
Prior to its take-off, the aircraft was given a customary “water salute”.
In her speech, Scanda Sky executive chairman Tengku Faizwa Tengku Razif said the airline has two flights weekly to Guangzhou on every Wednesday and Saturday.
She said the premium chartered airline aims to be different, to give passengers a comfortable flight.
“We have our Scanda Sky ambassadress, who will escort and assist passengers from here until checkout at Guangzhou,” she said.
Tengku Faizwa said they are working closely with the Guangzhou government to bring tourists into Perak.
“The feedback has been good. We hope to welcome 40 to 50 visitors from Guangzhou each week starting next year.
“We’ll also try to make them stay longer in Perak, instead of transiting to Kuala Lumpur,” she added.
Reading a speech on behalf of Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, state Tourism Committee chairman Tan Kar Hing thanked the airline for creating a milestone for Perak.
He said it was the first direct flight from the state to China.
“I hope the airline would also fly to other neighbouring countries in the region in the future,” he said.
Tan said he hopes the direct flight would attract more tourists and business into the state.
“We’ll try to create more flights into the state,” he added. - Star
