(The Star) – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says he will leave it to the Pakatan Harapan presidential council to discuss DAP’s decision on Ronnie Liu.
The Youth and Sports Minister said the upcoming Tanjung Piai by-election this weekend should be the focus for now.
“I think Tanjung Piai is more important to focus on now and whatever follow-up discussion will be done at the Pakatan presidential council meeting,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby on Wednesday (Nov 13).
The DAP Disciplinary Committee said it had accepted the explanation given by its central executive committee member, Ronnie Liu, for an article criticising Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Prior to that, Syed Saddiq had criticised Liu over the latter’s remark.
In a Facebook posting last month, Syed Saddiq said Liu’s remark was “rude” and “disrespectful to the harmony within Pakatan Harapan”.
He added that Armada, Bersatu’s Youth Wing, would give Liu a week to apologise.
Liu, in an opinion piece entitled “Mahathir: The Paper Tiger”, had written that DAP, PKR, Amanah, Warisan and UPKO can band together and form a government without Bersatu.
