TG PIAI POLLS | Flyers promoting Pakatan Harapan's Tanjung Piai candidate Karmaine Sardini that utilised the 'Buy Muslim First' campaign were distributed at its mega ceramah tonight.
The flyers lined the 1,000 plus seats at the event in Kukup Laut.
In an immediate response to Malaysiakini’s article, Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman claimed this was an act of sabotage.
"This is not Harapan's stance! I checked with the organiser and no one is aware. We suspect it’s sabotage.
"Our stance is to vote for the candidate who brings development for Tanjung Piai, who fought against corruption.
"Race and religion should not matter," he told the media over WhatsApp.
The flyer features a red halal logo at the back, with the words 'Kempen Beli Produk Islam' (Buy Muslim Products Campain).
Under the logo are the following words:
"Buy Muslim First Campain (BMF) - Ask first if the seller is Bersatu, PKR, Umno, PAS, or Amanah?
"We buy as long as it is from a Malay Muslim.
"When voting, it should be that when there is a Muslim and non-Muslim candidate, we choose the Muslim no matter the party.
"When there is more than one Muslim candidate, we choose the biggest. So vote Bersatu. This follows the right principles.
"Vote Muslim first!"
The flyer contained background information on Karmaine, as well as a list of the deeds by late-MP Dr Md Farid Md Rafik.
Harapan previously had railed against the 'Buy Muslim First' campaign, which had been categorised by some as a boycott against non-Muslims.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who condemned the boycott, will be headlining tonight's ceramah.
The ceramah is at the border of the Permas Kechil, Bandar Permas Kechil and Sungai Durian polling districts.
Sungai Durian is 80 percent Malay, while the two other districts are 67 percent Chinese.
