PARLIAMENT | In a lighthearted moment in the Dewan Rakyat, Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming today called on a BN parliamentarian to join the national Olympic diving team over the latter’s skill in jumping off-topic today.
Shahidan Kassim (BN-Arau) earned the quip after he deviated from the basis of the topic being debated in the House today.
“Maybe the minister (Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman) can consider sending Yang Berhormat (YB) Arau to dive in the Olympics,” Nga quipped as he interjected Shahidan’s speech.
Shahidan, in his debate, began by accusing Syed Saddiq of breaking his promises on several political issues.
This concerned the latter’s statement, as Bersatu Youth chief, in issuing a one-week ultimatum for action to be taken against Sungai Pelek assemblyperson Ronnie Liu (below) for criticising the prime minister.
Shahidan had in fact been debating the Supply Bill 2020 on the committee level involving the Youth and Sports Ministry.
RSN Rayer (Pakatan Harapan -Jelutong) then objected to Shahidan’s statement on the ground that it did not pertain to the debate topic, prompting Nga to make his statement.
Meanwhile, Hassan Abdul Karim (Harapan - Pasir Gudang) also interjected during the debate to ask if Kelantan would be given the chance to host the Malaysia Games (Sukma).
He brought the matter up as Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PAS- Kuala Krai) was speaking.
The latter requested that the government afford the Kelantan government the chance to host Sukma in 2024. - Mkini
