Discuss PM transition at presidential council, Syed Saddiq tells Harapan

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said when Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should hand over power to Anwar Ibrahim should be discussed at the Pakatan Harapan presidential council. 

"We can discuss it in unity there, just as we are united for the Kimanis by-election," he told reporters when met in Kimanis today.

He added it was more important for Harapan to focus on building political unity to ensure the development of the nation.

PKR leaders aligned to Anwar are pushing for the transition to take place in May.

However, Pakatan Harapan secretary Saifuddin Abdullah, who is aligned to PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, said the coalition agreement mentions no specific date for the transition.

Mahathir had said he will hand over power to Anwar, but not before the Apec Summit in Kuala Lumpur this November. - Mkini
