PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution has advised party vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin to stay calm and focus on responding to a show-cause letter issued by the party disciplinary board on Jan 15.
"My suggestion to Zuraida is to focus on responding to the allegations (in the show-cause letter) sent to her by the disciplinary board.
"It's best not to be prejudiced. When the time comes, she will be present to explain... let the due process take place, no need to feel that there's influence here and there," he said when met in Kuala Lumpur.
Saifuddin was responding to Zuraida's remarks of judgemental party leadership and the reasons for the show-cause letter had something do with a fiery speech she made during a gathering with PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali's supporters at Renaissance Hotel last month.
Yesterday, Zuraida (above), who is Ampang MP and also housing and local government minister, said she planned to respond to the show-cause letter and was optimistic to receive a fair judgment.
"We know the influences of the party leadership and, even in that situation, I’m sure they will give me a fair judgment," she had said.
Saifuddin said the disciplinary committee will evaluate Zuraida's explanation and make a suggestion to the central leadership council (MPP).
"The MPP will make the final decision. Zuraida is given time to answer all the allegations.
"I suggest she remains calm in facing the situation," he said.
Meanwhile, asked if Azmin (below) would also receive a show-cause letter, Saifuddin said he does not know about that.
"I do not know about that. As secretary-general, I was asked to relay to the media (only) on what was presented by (PKR disciplinary board chairperson) Ahmad Kassim two days ago," he said.
On Dec 8, at a dinner organised following a walkout after PKR's heated national congress, Zuraida had alleged that PKR president Anwar Ibrahim tried to convince her that a sex video allegedly featuring Azmin was real.
Zuraida also claimed that Anwar went on to claim that Mahathir had requested for Anwar to sack Azmin.
At the time, Zuraida said she also did not fear being dismissed from the party for her statements made against Anwar, Saifuddin, and several other leaders. - Mkini
