Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has taken a jab at Pakatan Harapan itself, saying the ruling coalition was now getting a taste of its own medicine, after 60 years of criticising the previous government as the opposition.
"Any government will be criticised. The best thing is to be in the opposition.
"The (former) opposition enjoyed 60 years of criticising the government.
"Now that opposition is the government, it has received a little bit of its own medicine," Mahathir said at a press conference in the Prime Minister's Office today, after chairing a special committee meeting on anti-corruption.
He said this after being asked about the criticisms against the government for a deal with a company to supply 32 units of Toyota Vellfire for ministers and 3,000 Honda Accord units for the use of senior government officials.
Aside from those vehicles, the government is also reportedly planning to utilise 8,000 units of Proton Persona and Proton Saga.
The deal will reportedly cost RM300 million annually, involving 12,500 vehicles for 15 years.
Ministers are currently using Proton Perdana while senior government officials are using Toyota Camry. - Mkini
