The reported cases of influenza infection in Johor are still under control and thus far there are no signs of an outbreak, says state health director Dr Aman Rabu.
However, he said, monitoring was still going on, to ensure that the situation remained under control.
“Thus far there are no signs of an outbreak. There are different types of influenza – A, B and C – but we are not focusing on any specific influenza as our monitoring is comprehensive as long as it involves respiratory problems and colds,” Aman told reporters in Johor Bahru yesterday evening.
He said this in light of the latest development pertaining to influenza case in Johor.
Aman was met after conducting the 'No Smoking' enforcement operations at several eateries in Bandar Baru Uda in the state capital, which was also attended by state Health, Culture and Heritage Committee chairperson Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar.
Asked whether the state Health Department had recorded any case of 'mysterious respiratory-related illness' which hit people in China in Johor, Aman said no reports had been received thus far.
However, as a precautionary measure, they conducted health screening at the Senai International Airport to identify tourists or individuals from China with fever symptoms, he said.
