The Kelantan State VVIPs (Mentri Besar and his Exco Members) need a Car to do their official duties.
Isn't a new VIVA or BEZZA, a car that can perform the same task and it cost so much cheaper while it is locally made with reasonable comfort.
We were given to understand that Federal aid is frequently sought to pay for their civil servants salaries every month since the State is unable to meet this obligation.
Federal government had recently given a special allocation to the Kelantan government for the welfare of the rakyat BUT the State Officials had decided to use these proceeds to purchase a fleet of luxury Mercedez Benz for their use. They claim that their old fleet of cars used by them are too old while the cost of maintenance for these old vehicles are extremely high.
Kelantan government is ruled by the Opposition PAS and the State is unable to attract new investors who could provide new employment for its rakyat but seem to be totally relying on their oil reserves to meet whatever obligations that arise.
THE RAKYAT'S WELFARE SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST. Some years ago, a major flood took place with many homes were washed away and new homes were built using donations from Malaysians since the Kelantan government was unable to meet these demands.
Kelantan government need to wake up and face reality. The rakyat's interest should always come first. Being humble should be the virtue cultivated BUT not giving 'silly' reasons to justify their actions in purchasing these luxury Mercedez Benzs. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
