General Qasen Soleymani (Inna Lillahi) was the commander of IRGC / Al Quds Force.
On Thursday Gen Soleymani was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad.

OSTB : IRGC means the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran.
Separately or sometimes interchangeable known as the Al Quds Force.
The Al Quds Force is the Iranian regiment which operates outside Iran.
"The Quds Force is a unit in Iran's Revolutionary Guards directed to carry out unconventional warfare and intelligence activities and is responsible for extraterritorial operations. It is commanded by Major General Qasem Soleimani. The Quds Force supports non-state actors in many countries, including Lebanese Hezbollah, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, Yemeni Houthis, and Shia militias in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan"
My comments : General Soleymani also singlehandedly led the Iraqi coalition troops (which at one time included US Marines) to defeat the ISIS in Iraq.
He also led the campaign to defeat the ISIS in Syria, although in Syria his role fell behind the YPG (the Kurdish peoples' militia) and the Russians who actually did the brunt of the fighting.
This is actually a tit for tat. A few days ago in Baghdad (Tuesday), pro Iran Shia militia attacked the US Embassy in Baghdad and forced the US Ambassador to run for his life. This was a great humiliation for the US. It is believed that General Qasem's hand was involved in this attack against the US Embassy. Hence the retaliation by the Americans which killed him.
Despite the heavy security and secrecy around the general's movements he was so easily taken out by just one American airstrike.
There are still about 12,000 US soldiers in Iraq. They have all become high priority targets now.
Soon Iraq will burn again.
The Ayatollahs in Iran may also retaliate directly against American troops and bases throughout the Middle East.
Although Donald Trump signed off on this kill strike, I believe the US Deep State was behind this air strike. Plus they are sending more troops to Iraq.
They are not going to be able to impeach Donald Trump. Pushing America into another conflagration in the Middle East may provide opportunities to embarass Trump. This is my view.
This is a very bad start for the new year in the Middle East.
