PSS originated from BN, it just had a different name - Muhyiddin

KIMANIS POLLS | The Temporary Sabah Pass (PSS), which BN is using as cannon fodder in the Kimanis by-election, was first mooted by the former ruling coalition, said Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin said the matter was brought up and agreed on in a BN committee meeting on July 31, 2015, and was at the time known as a Temporary Sabah Resident Pass (PRSS).
"When the change of government happened, we refined the proposal, and studied it thoroughly and presented it at a central committee on Sept 6, 2019.
"BN didn't implement (PSS) but it was given attention at the time (2015), and there were (plans) to implement but then (BN) lost, and we took over," Muhyiddin told reporters when met in Papar, Sabah today.

The PSS is a new document that the Immigration Department will issue to migrants, replacing three existing documents, namely IMM13, Burung-burung cards and census certificates.
BN has denied any involvement in creating PSS.
Instead, it claimed the temporary pass will be used to grant migrants citizenship, in exchange for shoring up the Warisan state government.
However, the Home Ministry recently explained that the PSS will not lead to migrants or any other foreigners attaining citizenship, nor will it guarantee the holder to be granted a Temporary Resident status.
Muhyiddin said today that PSS is instead meant to improve security in Sabah by having a record of the migrants, who would have their passes revoked if they commit any crimes. - Mkini
