Shafie: Sabah govt will still provide assistance in Kimanis despite Warisan's by-election defeat

BEAUFORT: Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pic) says he has accepted the defeat in Kimanis and assured that the state government would continue to assist the people there.
"We are still the government. We will continue to provide assistance as the people in the area need it," said the Chief Minister.
"The people have decided and we accept their decision," he said after attending a Christmas and New Year open house hosted by state Rural Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick in Kota Belud on Sunday (Jan 19).
Shafie also said that they would conduct a post-mortem of the defeat of their candidate Datuk Karim Bujang to Barisan Nasional's Datuk Mohamad Alamin.
He said there were various factors, including candidate and money politics which would be looked into in-depth.
On whether the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS) for Filipino war refugees – which was one of the issues brought up during the campaign period – would be reviewed, Shafie said they would study it and discuss the matter with the Home Ministry.
Mohamad polled 12,706 votes against Karim's 10,677 votes to win the seat with a 2,029 vote majority. - Star
