Tok Pa to focus on Kelantan, not keen on education minister post

Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed has dismissed suggestions by certain quarters who placed him as a candidate to helm the education ministry.
When contacted by Malaysiakini today, Mustapa, who jumped ship from Umno to Bersatu in October 2018, said that he would continue to focus his work in Kelantan.
"If it is the issue (on the post of education minister), it's okay... I am only thinking about Kelantan," he said.
Mustapa was responding to a statement by National Professor Council chairperson Shamsul Amri Baharuddin who saw the former International Trade and Industry minister as being suitable for the position.

For the record, Mustapa is also a former minister of higher education during the BN era.
Mustapa's name has been circulating around as one of the prospects to helm the education ministry following Maszlee Malik's resignation.
When joining Bersatu, Mustapa had also relayed a message to party president Muhyiddin Yassin that he has no intention to hold any post in the party.
With the Umno-Pas alliance last year, Mustapa, who is also Air Lanas assemblyperson, is the sole opposition assemblyperson in the PAS-controlled Kelantan government. - Mkini
