KIMANIS POLL | The BN candidate for the Jan 18 Kimanis by-election is determined to strengthen Sabah's voice in Parliament if elected.
In pledging this, Mohamad Alamin (above, with backpack) claimed the people were clearly dissatisfied with the government's leadership.
"I will bring the voice of the people of Sabah and we will send a message to the government.
"We will look into any current issues as the people's dissatisfaction with the government is clear," he said after filing his nomination papers for the by-election at the Dewan Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Dun Banirin in Beaufort today.
Mohamad will face Parti Warisan Sabah candidate Karim Bujang in a straight fight.
Mohamad was the first candidate to arrive at 9.07am and completed submitting his nomination forms at 9.27am.
Meanwhile, Karim, who arrived at 9.13am, completed his nomination forms submission at 9.30am.
The Kimanis parliamentary by-election was called for after the Federal Court on Dec 2 upheld a decision by the Kota Kinabalu Election Court overturning Anifah Aman's victory for the seat in the 14th general election (GE14).
The Kota Kinabalu Election Court on Aug 16 last year had ruled that Anifah's victory was void after finding that there were additional ballots that could have affected the election result.
In the 2018 general election, Anifah won the seat with a majority of only 156 votes.
He received 11,942 votes compared to Karim's 11,786 votes while another candidate, Jaafar Ismail of the Sabah People's Party, received 1,300 votes.
Accompanying Mohamad today were BN's top leaders - BN deputy chairperson Mohamad Hasan, Sabah Umno chairperson Bung Mokhtar Radin, Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa and former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Thousands of supporters from both parties gathered outside the nomination centre to support their candidates.
Mohamad later said he will continue his campaign later this evening and meet the voters. - Mkini
