Wisma Putra not being vacated for Education Ministry

Wisma Putra has dismissed speculation that either Foreign Affairs Minister Saifuddin Abdullah or his deputy Marzuki Yahya would be appointed as the next education minister.
Speaking to reporters in Putrajaya today, Saifuddin, who had previously served as deputy higher education minister during Najib Abdul Razak's cabinet from 2009 to 2013, said this was "just speculation".
Asked whether he would like to comment on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle, he replied: Nehinehi (no, in Hindi).
Yesterday, Marzuki had similarly dismissed reports that he was the new education minister.

Maszlee Malik had resigned as education minister yesterday, which Marzuki said he did not know would happen.
Maszlee did not disclose why he quit, merely saying he respected the advice of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, whom he had met prior to announcing his resignation.
He, however, lamented that despite many of the ministry's achievements, it had been overshadowed by negative press and politicking.
Besides Saifuddin and Marzuki, Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed has also been rumoured as a candidate to be the new education minister. - Mkini
