Woman Grab driver attacked by male passenger

The Grab driver suffered a bloodied nose after she was hit on the back and face by the male passenger.

KOTA KINABALU: A woman Grab driver suffered injuries to the head and face after being assaulted by a male passenger who robbed her at Kinarut in Papar, near here, today.

The 59-year-old driver was said to have picked up the passenger at Inanam at about noon.

It was learnt that the man had booked a ride to the Karamunsing area in the city but later told the driver to send him to Kinarut.

When they reached Kinarut, the man suddenly hit the driver at the back of her head and face before escaping in her Perodua Myvi, a source said.

He left her on the roadside, the source said, adding that some of her valuables were also taken.

Villagers found the woman, who had a bloodied nose, and called the police.

Papar police chief Batholomew Umpit, who confirmed the incident, said the woman was sent to the district hospital for treatment.

He said police were looking for the attacker. - FMT
