SEREMBAN: Members of the Negri Sembilan executive council reiterated their support on Monday (May 18) for Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun following talk that some Pakatan Harapan assemblymen were planning to jump ship.
Aminuddin said he had complete faith in the remaining Pakatan assemblymen whom he had known for years.
"There is a lot of talk and analysis being made that Negri Sembilan will also have problems.
"This has not only adversely affected the integrity and credibility of Pakatan assemblymen, but has also caused potential investors to defer their plans.
"Such unsubstantiated talk is actually affecting our image," he told reporters at Wisma Negri after chairing the state exco meeting on Monday (May 18).
There has been talk in recent weeks that the Negri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan government was on shaky ground after the Johor, Melaka, Perak and Kedah state governments all collapsed.
One news portal even went to the extent of speculating that six Pakatan assemblymen in the state could abandon the party.
Pakatan holds 20 of the 36 seats in the state assembly with the DAP having 11, PKR six and Amanah three.
Barisan Nasional has 16, with Umno having 15 and MIC one.
Aminuddin said although the media, including online portals, were free to write analytical stories, they should be fair and base it on evidence.
"Imagine how a Yang Berhormat who does not have any intention to jump ship will feel when his family or voters ask him if these reports are true?
"Being labelled a traitor will only cause them anguish, and this is not right," he said.
On a separate matter, Aminuddin said all village community management council (MPKK) chairmen and secretaries in the state would be given RM200 in cash aid in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The cash assistance will also be given to all imam, bilal and siak in the state.
"We have set aside an allocation of RM550,000 for this, and we hope to make the payment before Hari Raya," he said.
Asked when the Seremban wet market, which was closed after some traders tested positive for Covid-19, would be re-opened, Aminuddin said it should resume business on Wednesday (May 20).
He said some 600 traders, their family members and employees have undergone screening and another 80 had yet to do so.
