Clarification on several inaccurate information reported on article “BOMBSHELL – THE REMISSION IS OVER – GOSSIP SWIRLS MUHYIDDIN TO GO FOR CHEMOTHERAPY, CLAIMS REPORT – AZMIN’S BIG CHANCE TO SEIZE POWER APPEARS – BUT WILL NAJIB & ZAHID ALLOW IT?”

Jabatan Audit Negara (JAN) would like to clarify on several inaccurate information reported in this blog, Malaysians Must Know the TRUTH dated 22 May 2020 under the caption “BOMBSHELL – THE REMISSION IS OVER – GOSSIP SWIRLS MUHYIDDIN TO GO FOR CHEMOTHERAPY, CLAIMS REPORT – AZMIN’S BIG CHANCE TO SEIZE POWER APPEARS – BUT WILL NAJIB & ZAHID ALLOW IT?

Jabatan Audit Negara (JAN) had confirmed through an official Press Statement dated 23 May 2020 that the ‘official’, referred to in the media, attending the Post-Cabinet meeting on 20 May 2020 infected with Covid-19 was the Auditor General of Malaysia (KAN).

JAN, however, would like to emphasise that KAN was not aware that he was infected then because he was not showing any symptom of being infected with Covid-19 (such as fever, cough, flu or sore throat) when he attended the Post-Cabinet meeting on 20 May 2020. His body temperature, taken just before he went up to the Prime Minister's meeting room, was 36.9°C.

The swab tests on KAN were only conducted at 9.30 a.m. on 21 May 2020 at Pejabat Kesihatan W.P. Putrajaya. These tests were undertaken as a mandatory requirement for all officials before attending the National Finance Council (NFC) on 22 May 2020. KAN was scheduled to attend the NFC meeting, chaired by YAB PM and attended by all Menteri Besar/Chief Ministers as well as other senior officials.

There were two (2) tests  conducted consecutively on 21 May 2020. The result of the first test, which was received at 3.30 p.m. the same day, was negative. The result of the second test, which was received around 6.00 p.m. the same day, however, showed that KAN was Covid-19 positive. The same evening (21 May 2020), at 8.45 p.m., KAN was taken by ambulance from JAN Head Office in Putrajaya to Hospital Sungai Buloh for further medical examination and treatment.

With above the narration, JAN would like to point out that your blog has inaccurately reported the ‘official’ (referring to KAN) who, presumably whilst feeling sick, decided to attend a meeting with the Prime Minister.’ Your opinion in the subsequent paragraphs of the said report was based on inaccurate information.

In line with the above, JAN would like to request for corrections to be made by your blog immediately to safeguard the reputation of the Office of the Auditor General, Malaysia.
