The number of Covid-19 red zones nationwide fell to nine yesterday compared with 10 zones the day before while yellow zones climbed to 62 from 58, according to the Health Ministry (MOH).
Based on its latest statistics, as of 12pm yesterday (March 3), the number of green zones also fell by three zones to 86 compared to Saturday, which recorded 89 green zones.
The changes were recorded in the states of Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Sarawak.
For the record, the changes in zoning are based on the number of active cases according to districts.
In Johor, which had two red zones as of Saturday, saw the number drop down to one when Johor Bahru district recorded a decrease in the number of active cases from 46 to 37. Kluang remained as a red zone with 67 active cases, despite recording a reduction from 70 in the previous day.
Negeri Sembilan saw its capital Seremban turning into a red zone as the number of active cases climbed from 27 to 45. The spike is believed to be related to the Sendayan cluster, which recorded 17 new cases as of noon yesterday.
Selangor, meanwhile, saw its Petaling district changed from being red zone to a yellow zone when the number of active cases recorded in the district fell from 43 to 39.
Sarawak had one of its green zones changed to yellow yesterday when Sibu recorded one active case. The state's zones are now two red, 11 yellow and 27 green zones
According to MOH's classification, green zones are districts that have zero active cases, while yellow have between one and 40 cases. A district with more than 40 cases is classified as a red zone.
