Decision on filming activities during MCO after Raya, says Ismail Sabri

Malaysiakini

The government will consider after Hari Raya whether to allow the resumption of filming activities during the conditional movement control order (MCO) period, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The defence minister today said that this was because the government needed time to consider every aspect of filming activities with regard to social distancing during on-set recordings.
The senior minister (security cluster) said this would encompass filming for movies, TV dramas and commercials among others.
He said that the Communication and Multimedia Ministry had tabled a proposal on Tuesday on the feasibility of allowing filming activities to resume.
“We took into account their views but we have not yet decided whether to give the green light because there are many considerations to look into.
“On acting, there may be cases of no social distancing during on-set filming. The filming does not just involve the actors but also the film crew.
“Hence why we are holding back our decision first. Maybe after (Hari) Raya we will consider again. We wish to examine in every detail and get input from the Health Ministry.
“We are aware that many of those involved in the film industry and so on are facing problems of income among others. So we will look into this matter,” he assured.
Ismail Sabri was speaking during a press conference at Putrajaya that was broadcast live online this afternoon.
Yesterday, it was reported that the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (MCMC) would soon decide on a standard operating procedure (SOP) to be adhered to by industry players for filming activities during the conditional MCO.
The MCMC said the SOP proposal has been tabled for consideration during a special ministerial committee meeting on the MCO. - Mkini
