Equestrian centres to resume limited operation for horse welfare

Malaysiakini

Equestrian centres nationwide are now allowed to resume limited operation for the horses to be fed and their stables to be cleaned, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
He said that the government is allowing this under the conditional movement control order (MCO) to safeguard the welfare of the horses.
“We have already given the greenlight for zoos to operate. Horses would also face problems when (the equestrian centres) are not allowed to operate by us. Horses would not be fed and the stables would be dirty.
“So today's meeting has agreed to allow services involving horses, including equestrian centres, to operate. But this greenlight is merely for us to look after the welfare of the animals," Ismail said during a press conference in Putrajaya this afternoon.
“It only has to do with the giving of food, cleaning of stables and other matters of animal welfare.
“This is so those who keep horses can safeguard their horses’ welfare,” he added.
