Today, 13 May 2020, marks two important events for Malaysians. Today, the Muslims have performed their fast for the past 20 days and its considered in Islam as the "Night of Glory" and in another 10 days time the Muslims will celebrate Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
It is also May 13, Malaysians can never forget the bloodshed of the May 13, 1969 massacre which claimed many innocent lives in Malaysia.
The government announced that the civil servants will be receiving RM500 each while the government pensioners will received RM250 each as Hari Raya Bonus this year.
HOW ABOUT THE UNEMPLOYED, SELF-EMPLOYED AND POOR ORDINARY MALAYSIANS after more than 45 days of lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ramadan is the month when Muslims fast and :
"Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship. ... Muslims believe that Ramadan teaches them to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate, thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat)."
Wouldn't it be caring that these under-privileged group (unemployed, self-employed and the poor ordinary Malaysians) also be given a SPECIAL HARI RAYA BONUS by the Muhyiddin government so that they too could celebrate the beginning of Shawal with a brighter and happier spirit that the federal government does really care for these less fortunate Malaysians.
Will PM Muhyiddin give these less fortunate groups a bonus too? - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
