CORONAVIRUS | Defence Minister Ismail Sabri confirmed that the area around Jalan Pudu was not under an enhanced movement control order (MCO) but was being more tightly monitored after it was cordoned off with concertina barbed wire last night.
"It is not true about an enhanced MCO in Pudu," said Ismail at the daily press conference.
"We are just not implementing a total lockdown, people are still allowed to go on their business, we are (only) doing screening for Covid-19.
"This is different from the enhanced MCO which is a total lockdown, and the government will go in for food distribution.
"Here we carry out screenings, and if they are positive, we isolate and send them directly to the hospital."
Yesterday, it was reported that 18 of the 40 new cases were part of the Pudu cluster.
Ismail who is also Senior Minister (Security Cluster) told the press that across the country there had been 44 people arrested yesterday for violating the MCO.
