Jailhouse blues: Cops arrest six engrossed in karaoke session during MCO

SIBU: A group of six people in Sarikei were arrested by the police after they were found to be in defiance of the conditional movement control order (MCO) by holding a karaoke session in a pub on Sunday (May 17) night.
Sarikei OCPD Dept Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang said that a team of policemen on MCO enforcement duty raided the entertainment centre in town.
"The team found the five men and a woman deeply engrossed in a karaoke session," he said.
The suspects, aged between 18 and 50, were detained under Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) 2020 and Section 269 of the Penal Code for unlawfully or negligently doing acts likely to spread a dangerous infection.
DSP Awang said the owner of the centre was also arrested under Section 5(2) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2001 for operating it without a licence. - Star
